[HIKING] BATANGAS: Mt. Batulao (811+ MASL), easy breezy with jaw-dropping views

This post was supposedly last February however I have been busy with a lot of cupcake orders and events.

Mt. Batulao's famous jagged peaks

It has been a while since my last hike. I am quite anxious how my body will react to this hike even if it is just recommended for beginners.
Mt. Batulao is very famous among hikers and weekend warriors who wants a quick day hike or overnight camp. Stay more at the campsite instead in the trail, more socials and relaxation!

How to get there?
Mt. Batulao is a three-hour drive from Manila or can be lesser if you will be bring your own car. Travel time will also depend on what time you will be leaving Manila. Motto: The earlier, the faster. This time, we brought my friend's trusty jeep so we can have a side to the town of Taal after the hike.

By Bus:
Take a bus en route Nasugbu - Lemery, Batangas. Exit the bus when you get to Evercrest Golf Course in Lemery, Batangas. From the entrance, you can hire a tricycle to get to the jump-off point.

By Private vehicle:
via SLEX, exit Sta. Rosa Exit. Drive the Tagaytay-Nasugbu Highway. Evercrest Golf course is only few minutes from the Nasugbu Arch.

The hike
We took the Old to New trail.
The trail is very clear and we opted not to get a guide for this trek. Its a weekend and many hikers do day hikes to unwind from busy city life. Thank God it did not rain the day before. We did not have to struggle in mud.

If you can walk far with a few degrees inclined, then you can hike Mt. Batulao. The only challenge here is the rock climbing to get to the summit. Don't worry a cold bottle of Mountain Dew awaits you at the peak, hehe!

The trail only has a few walks in the shade but in general it is an open trail. Your bush hat and long sleeves and sunscreen is a must. Don't forget to turn on your camera and finger on the shutter as the views in the trail of this mountain are stunning.
Here are our shots during the hike:

I just have to stop and take a photo of the shadows and view

Families living in the areas survives by planting root crops and vegetables then selling them in the nearby towns. I even saw a sari-sari store ready with weighing scale for wholesale vegetable dealers. Some of their crops were ginger, sayote, sweet potato, chives, onions, and squash.

It was around 9AM when we reached the summit. The way to the summit is the most enjoyable part. :)
There are a lot of great views and a lot of hikers to meet along the way. Some are experienced some are beginners...

The most challenging part: trust the rope

It was already 4PM when we arrived at the parking area. We freshen up and hit the road again. We went to Taal Basilica to catch the mass but we failed. So we just offered a prayer then went back to Tagaytay city to have very late dinner.

In general, the hike was fun and I would definitely do it again if time permits. :)
