[RESORTS] SURIGAO: Club Tara : a resort on stilts in the heart of Bucas Grande Island, Surigao del Norte

high noon... low tide

Dreaming of visiting the Maldives, I found a great alternative for that pocket drilling idea.

Bucas Grande Island is considered by some bloggers to be the Maldives of the Philippines because of its white sand beaches and turquoise waters.
Located in the north-eastern part of Mindanao, Bucas Grande Island and Surigao del Norte is a haven for photo bloggers, travel bloggers, and adventure seekers.

CLUB TARA RESORT

If you are on vacation and you might want to splurge a bit, Club Tara Resort could be your option. Almost two-hour boat ride from the Hayanggabon port, you can find cottages on stilts in a cove, isolated from big waves and with crystal clear water. Does that not sound like relaxing?!

just arrived in Club Tara

I you arrived at mid day, its low tide. Rocky limestone formations are exposed in the waters. Since their docking area was destroyed by typhoon last November, its quite a challenge going through sharp limestone rocks to get into the club house.
I highly suggest the management should have it fixed.

THE ROOM

The cottage is a wide-open room with a queen-sized bed. Next to it is a table with rattan seating. The all-glass sliding door leads to a porch with an amazingly relaxing view of the islets surrounding the Club Tara. If you are staying here with the kids, keep caution in the porch area as there is no railing and your kids might fall off to the sea.

THE COMFORT ROOM

I would consider the place as a Honeymoon resort. The cottage have very spacious toilet and bath with a Jacuzzi facing a 360-view of the cove. However, there were NO DOORS separating the shower area and toilet and leading to the entrance of the comfort room itself. Not so kid friendly if you are staying with the whole family.

THE FOOD

I must commend the generous serving of the food served in Club Tara. Most of the entrée is based on the freshly catch seafood and, for dessert, fresh fruits. Most of the food were home cooked. Here are some pictures of the food they serve.

THE FACILITIES

Club Tara have kayaks, life jackets, snorkels, and salt water swimming pool. They also have a white sand beach front located at the back of the resort.
Club Tara also provides tour in Sohoton cove and other nearby attractions, check out their website for the rates.

Club Tara will definitely one of your top choice while staying in Bucas Grande Island. However, it is indeed the management responsibility to maintain the facilities of the resort. The low cooling air conditioning unit, rusty faucet, unclean swimming pool, and the dangerous docking area will surely leave a bad impression from the guests.
