[TRAVEL]SURIGAO DEL NORTE:Sohoton cove, enchanting place in Surigao del Norte

Before exploring the beauty of Sohoton cove, you need to register in the tourism centre located near the cove and pay the necessary environmental fee, tour guide fee, and mini boat rental. The corresponding fees in Philippine Peso will be posted in the next blog entry.

Located few hours from Surigao City in mainland Mindanao, Sohoton cove is a 60-hectar group of 7 islets. Each islet has two amazing attraction that will make anyone’s adrenaline rush satisfied.
The opening of the Sohoton cove only shows up during low tide. The rocky ceiling of the pathway reminded me of a mini underground river in Palawan.  Upon signing up in the receiving area of Sohoton Tourism, you will be given a life vest and helmet for protection in the entrance of the cove.
Upon entering the cove, you will encounter the calm turquoise waters…

Such a relaxing view… but don’t be fooled as the first stop of this cove will make your heart pound…

At the mouth of Makukuob cave lays some crystal-like rock formations, stalagmites and stalactites. A short rock climbing activity is needed to reach the exit of the cave. This is the easiest way out… DIVE from the platform around 10 feet above the water surface.
The rule conquer your fear is to “Don't over-think!!! Just dive!”

Since the Sohoton cove in an enclosed area, they use the horse shoe-like rock formation to know if the entrance is passable or not.
